Work with Stones

These stones are part of the Sussex landscape that I have painted for more than sixty years.

The works on them are paintings, not patterns or decorations. The lines and spaces are connected and create a composition that serves a purpose. On a three-dimensional object, that composition needs to coherent from every angle of viewing. The form of the object, the surface and the texture dictate the composition.
The paintings on stones are connected other work with wood or sand.       I find joy and satisfaction in making connections to the local landscape visible on objects taken from the landscape itself.
