The stick placings were made from material found outside my studio. They were inspired by the woodland close my studio, in the same way as many paintings and drawings from the 1980s (as in the previous post).

(issued by Waddington Galleries as a gift to their clients /artists in 1985 for the following year)

The sketches of trees were all done in the same woodland, close to my studio. After the Big Storm of 1987 many of the fallen trees provided the material for a series of wooden sculptures, such as the work on this year’s Christmas card.
